Sneak Preview: Ford’s Upcoming Focus RS Getting Sideways

Sneak Preview: Ford’s Upcoming Focus RS Getting Sideways

Ford Performance stole the show in Detroit, and that was just their opening act. Hot on the heels of the GT350R, Raptor and GT is the new-for-the-U.S. Ford Focus RS. Not much has been confirmed for the hot hatch, but rumor mill rumblings expect the 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder that is currently sitting in the Mustang to be used, with power expected to be up to 350 horsepower. The bigger mystery is how all of that power will be put to the ground: either the Focus will be all-wheel-drive, giving Ford something to go after the Subaru camp with, or will employ a trick front suspension and differential combination in a front-wheel-drive layout that will mimic the last-generation Euro-only Focus RS. Ford hasn’t denied anything, so until the RS debuts on February 3rd, 2015, every bit of speculation is a possibility.

great, looks like we’re again getting an ugly 5 door for North America while the rest of the world gets the 3 door. Sorry Ford, not interested anymore.
