They’re feather-light, have a great aftermarket backing, and make for some of the wildest race cars you can find. Yes, they are a dime a dozen and you see them everywhere, but the Fox-body Ford Mustang is popular for a reason. All you need room for inside, really, is one body…your own…and the rest of the car should be filled to the gills with roll cage, engine, transmission, suspension and nitrous…tons of nitrous. Or a turbo. Or a supercharger. Or whatever combination that your heart desires. The point is, a Fox Mustang can be as fast as you want it to be…the question just boils down to what’s powering it.

Now, some of you may know that my wife owns a Mustang Ghia similar to this car. I have managed to exercise restraint with that car, because it’s not mine, it’s hers. But looking at this silver beast, I’m ready to roll the Great Pumpkin into the shop and get to work, because this thing is calling my name. I don’t know which one would be cheaper to do…I’d be preparing a 347 and C4 combination for this one in half a second, since most everything else is ready to go. The frame has been tied, the fake convertible roof is long gone, the interior is as presentable as a race car should be, and I’m not so concerned about the front bumper’s paint flaking off. That could be re-shot or completely ignored, as far as I’m concerned.

Someone make this the small-tire radial car that it deserves to be. And please, leave the old four-eye Fox look alone. It just seems right here.

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

Whereas my head says put in an FE or the 354, my heart says make it a screaming 3-rotor Mazda motor with huge turbos….
