This Ford XE Falcon Doesn’t Look Like The 9-second Quarter-Mile Car That It Is!

If it weren’t for the small aftermarket hood scoop on top of this Ford Falcon, you’d be forgiven for thinking that it was just a wicked-up street car. It makes a nice, cammed idle and looks ready for a cruise, not so much ready to yank the wheels into the air on it’s way to a nine-second pass. The red body stripe and Centerlines on track rubber only contrast with the baby blue paint and the greyish-black interior, and we can’t help but see a little bit of Ford Tempo whenever we look at the car head-on. But when the Ford Windsor block, now sitting at 447 cubic inches, gets kicked right in the pedal, all 910 horsepower come alive and rip the 3,280 pound car down the track to times within a tick of the 9.0 second range with trap speeds in the 150 MPH zone. And about that scoop? We only give passes to the cars that absolutely need them…
