IS THIS VEGA WAGON MIGHT BE THE ULTIMATE TIME CAPSULE! Maybe The Ultimate ’70s Street Machine.

Video Description:

The Chevy Vega was a wimpy, cheap, ugly economy car, but these lightweight cars made for excellent drag cars and street machines. This 1972 Chevy Vega station wagon proves that point, as it is one of the best examples of a truly authentic ’70s Street Machine. The car features period correct components from front to back…and even the modern stuff is either hidden or disguised as vintage parts.

The car has a 454ci big block Chevy with LS6 cylinder heads, a Weiand tunnel ram and dual Holley carburetors. It has tons of vintage speed equipment in place, including the famous Moroso gold valve covers, a Moroso cool can, Mallory ignition, and more. The big block is backed by a magnesium four-speed transmission, and a Hone overdrive unit, which makes the 4.56 rear end gears more manageable. A narrowed 12 bolt is equipped with stock springs and old school air shocks with an on-board compressor.

Bright orange paint, diamond stitched interior and Cragar wheels finish off the outstanding street machine. I had the pleasure of photographing this car for All Chevy Performance magazine so I wanted to put together a video to show off the car’s excellent selection of vintage speed parts from the 1970’s.
