For years now, Jeep puts together some excellent concept vehicles, hauls them out to Moab, and in the spirit of marketing and having fun, takes them out onto the trail during the Easter Jeep Safari. This year’s group of concept vehicles was an excellent roundup of all of the Jeep vehicles, plus a couple trick concept vehicles that had us salivating. The Jeep Chief, the throwback to the SJ-platform Cherokee, is a visual knockout and the Wrangler Africa and Wrangler Staff Car appeal to the minimalist in most of us…it certainly didn’t hurt that a lot of you guys tended to like them more as well. Even the Grand Cherokee Overlander hit all the right buttons with diesel power and a roof-mounted tent. But how did the more questionable Jeep products do on the trails? The Cherokee has been out a little bit now, and there is the issue of the Renegade to deal with…does the Micro Machine have what it takes to properly handle a trail? This video, released by FCA, is no-BS: you see the vehicle parked, then you see the vehicle in action, then, when all of that is done, then only do you have the guys behind the project say their peace about the event. We like that setup…let the car do the talking first. It shows confidence in the vehicles and allows the viewer to form their own opinions. Honestly, we’d still jump at the chance to drive most any of them. Most…
Chrysler has done retro great so far but the Chief and Staff Car are absolute musts.
I agree the Chief is my favorite. I also like the Africa. I wish they would have put them through their paces more in the video though. My wife’s Subaru could have hung in there on that trail.
