Craigslist Find: This 1974 Dodge Power Wagon Is Too Big For The City And Too Nice To Not Drive!

Reading the listing for this 1974 Dodge Power Wagon makes you feel outright sorry for the guy who is selling the truck, it really does. This Dodge was gone through three years ago in a frame-off build that saw the whole truck checked out top to bottom. With a 4″ Rancho suspension lift, 2″ body lift and 35″ tires, you won’t confuse this Dodge for a restoration, but the painted frame, new fuel and brake lines, rebuilt 440 big block, 727 TorqueFlite transmission, divorced NP205 transfer case, Dana 44/60 axles with 4.10 gears are all solid investments to make sure that this truck would remain strong for another lifetime. The seller brought this Oregon-sourced Dodge out to Illinois, intending on turning it into a plow truck, but has encountered a couple of problems: the restored Dodge is too nice to actually use as a truck, it doesn’t fit in his garage, and the storage unit the truck is kept at to keep it out of the weather is pricey.

The 1972-1993 Dodge truck line didn’t have many changes, but the 1972-80 D-series trucks tend to get our attention more than the 1981-93 Rams do. It doesn’t have graphics like a Warlock or a “Macho” edition Power Wagon, but a Dodge on 35″ tires with a mild lift is still plenty high enough to get attention, and that’s before you take into account how loud the 440 barks through ‘Cuda exhaust tips. This poor soul spent the money on the truck and as far as we’re concerned, did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, he has to let it go…his loss, your gain.

with a hockey-puck body lift? perhaps he just doesn’t want to be the guy who divorces the body from the frame at the first good bump off-road when those mounts tear themselves out of the body (leverage is a funny thing).
