FCA has done well in the horsepower war. They have a range that goes from sensible to seriously insane, have a lineup that includes a two-door, four-door, and an SUV wagon with 707 horsepower, trucks on the way…they didn’t forget how to party. But there has been something missing. It’s certainly not the bright colors, or the ability to melt tires at a whim, or the ability to draw in onlookers when parked. Nah, it’s something that hasn’t been seen or heard in decades: the Highland Park Hummingbird.
If you’re over the age of 30, you know what that noise is. Any old Chrysler V8 has that starter attached to the block makes that sound that might as well be the siren song for any Mopar fan. I can’t even begin to make an onomatopoeia that comes close to the sound without looking like I was banging my head against the keyboard, but I’ll go one better: here’s a full collection from the midwest, caught out in the cold. Cold start videos are a thing, apparently, so here’s Dylan McCool’s collection from his field of Chrysler-powered dreams. Which one works for you?
