Simply put, this Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 should not be as fast as it is. It’s too heavy and has all of the aerodynamic properties of a barn falling to Earth after a tornado picked it up, but Harrison Zauke’s Jeep WK, known as “The Brick”, knows how to defeat simple physics: all-wheel drive and a serious Precision turbocharger setup on the motor. We are talking no-kidding four-digit horsepower here and the kind of torque that would twist the stock driveshafts into pretzels. Running power through a TH400 and out through an SCS full-time all-wheel-drive system, Zauke’s Grand Cherokee has run a best of 8.30@167, but traction at Beech Bend was hard to come by, so they had to soften up the tune just to make sure the Jeep didn’t lose traction off of the line. Still, we were in awe every time this mall crawler rolled up to the line and took off like the devil was in hot pursuit…and yes, underneath that parachute is the license plate!
All in all, it’s just another brick built to haul!
