One cool thing about being in our position is that we get to see guys we make friends with out at events come up in the world. Guys who put in the blood, sweat, tears and yes, the dollars needed to play in the world of racing. Guys who help fellow racers, guys who hang around after the tire smoke clears to shoot the breeze. It’s always neat to see them get noticed. Sam Uthman is a guy I’ve known from a couple of modern Mopar events like ChallengerFest, and his 2009 Dodge Challenger has caught our eye before (you can read that story HERE). A former six-speed drag car, the twin-turbocharged terror is one of the few cars we know that can eat a Tremec crash box like it’s candy so after moving to a Rossler-built 4L80E, Uthman set his sights on standing mile events. That doesn’t mean that the Challenger can’t play hard at the dragstrip, or run the numbers. The car has gotten a good bit faster since we last saw it, and we’re hoping it’s faster still for the next year.
