This All-Motor Viper Laid Out A Record-Breaking 9.95@140 MPH Blast In Texas At The Viper Nationals!

This isn’t the fastest Dodge Viper in the quarter mile. Not even close…recently Jeff Lutz laid down a 6.78@211 MPH blast in Shawn Beard’s twin-turbocharged 1997 Viper coupe. What makes this blue fifth-gen Viper’s trip down the strip special is that it is an all-motor run. No nitrous, no turbos, no supercharger…the V-10 underneath that blue clamshell is a full-on screamer being fed purely on whatever the atmosphere is capable of providing. The stock Viper has plenty of grunt as it is, capable of 11.5 second quarter mile runs in stock form. And Andy Wheeler’s blue machine doesn’t seem to be radically modified, but other than taking our guesses from the video, we don’t know what all has been done to the snake to clip those seconds off of the pass. We’re banking on cam, head work, intake work and there has to be an excellent free-flowing exhaust setup going on there. 9.95 on the motor is impressive. Now let’s see what that little blue bottle can do for the snake…
