Last Minute Christmas Shopping: A Rare Kenny Bernstein Mercury LN7 Flopper-Bodied Go Kart

Last Minute Christmas Shopping: A Rare Kenny Bernstein Mercury LN7 Flopper-Bodied Go Kart

Just a few days until Christmas and you’re just NOW shopping? Tsk, tsk. You should know that the best gifts are the ones purchased after you’ve battled maddening hoards of shoppers while still full of pumpkin pie and turkey, but fear not, because here at BangShift we are always looking out for your best interests. We aren’t going to tell you what to get your significant other (at this point, if you hadn’t covered your hide there, we wish you good luck and safe hiding) but when it comes to the kiddos, we just might have the gift to keep you in their good graces. You might have to I.O.U. them on Christmas Day, but trust us, when told they are getting a go-kart, you should be cool.

Now, about the machine you’re actually seeing…you know the name Kenny Bernstein, and it’s a good thing they actually put “Mercury LN7” on the windshield banner because unless you’re a freak for the unloved cars like I am, you wouldn’t know what it was. Hell, if you had a real Mercury LN7 I’m willing to bet that your local Ford dealership wouldn’t know what it was. The ugly sister to the frog-like Ford EXP, the LN7 lasted two years…at least the EXP lasted seven…and could be told apart only by the bubble-back rear glass and the amount of inlets in the nose cone.

The go-karts themselves were built by FW Leisure, a company out of Tempe, Arizona that made fiberglass bodies for go-karts. As far as the kart itself, I wish I had more info, but it’s a funny car go kart from the 1980s. As long as it runs the kids will be happy, and you can replace or rebuild the lump of a lawnmower engine with something a little hotter down the road. Remember, you are the one that procrastinated until now…we’re giving you a line. If you absolutely have to sell it to the kids, show them some old racing footage on YouTube.

Wow – I can picture the scene – Christmas morning and 250 pound little Danny who has just eaten 4 deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches is howling and crying because he can’t get his fat ass in the driving seat…

Thats a good buy at $475. Good thing I don’t live in Minnesota cause I want it for the little kid in my 6″1″ 235lbs body.
