It is with a heavy heart that we report Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky, has suffered massive flooding due to the heavy storms that blasted the region in recent days. Photos have surfaced of the track showing water nearly to the roof of the covered grandstands. Reports say that a river close to the track is where the water came from. Sadly, when the photos we saw were taken, the river had yet to crest. This is heartbreaking.
We can say from local experience that Lebanon Valley Dragway in West Lebanon, New York, suffered serious flooding last year and was able to recover quickly and get back to racing within just a couple of weeks. We hope that when the water backs down it will reveal lots of cleaning up but little damage.
The track is set to host the Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion next month, which we’re looking forward to covering. Here’s hoping for a miracle.
