We’re going to be running a series of items over the coming days and weeks called “Celebrity Car Death Match” where we’ll pit two iconic cars, trucks, motorcycles, or other vehicles against one another in a tournament of death matches. Winner moves on, loser burns with the shame of defeat! This is serious stuff and we will advance a winner by the comments below the item, so be sure to chime in and tell us who the victor is and who will be rusting at the bottom of the ocean or squashed under a wrecking ball.
Celebrity car death match #1 – The General Lee VS KITT – WINNER: THE GENERAL LEE
The General Lee will advance to round two. KITT will be getting drunk with the ‘Hoff and hungrily eating cheeseburgers while cussing out its daughter before being sent to the depths of the sea.
Celebrity car death match #2 – The Kawasaki KZ-900P motorcycles of Ponch and Jon of ChiPs VS 1990 Harley Softail Custom of Reno Raines
Yeah, we’re going there. Today’s battle is of the two wheel variety as we see which famous ‘cycle will live through this cage match to the death! First we’ll start with the 1990 Harley Softail custom of Reno Raines from the show Renegade. Let’s face one fact first. Renegade was a dookie pile of a television show. Reno Raines was a good cop who decided to testify against some crooked officers and then they killed his wife. He escaped to become a renegade (see what they did there?) crime fighter who wasn’t afraid to do whatever it took to help innocent people beat the bad guys. His mount was a 1990 Harley Softail bike with flames, saddle bags, drag pipes, a sissy bar, and far too much hair. He was a fightin’ dude who could handle his own against the baddies and the bike was always a central part of the show. Reno wasn’t into helmets or other safety gear, outside of a long duster jacket that seemed bound to get caught in the belt and rip him off the motorcycle, but that never happened. This bike is one tough customer, but is it tough enough to take on a tandem?!
The second combatant locked inside the BangShift mechanical cage of death and despair are actually two combatants. Never seen operating alone, these two late 1970s KZ900P motorcycles were ridden by LA cops Frank Poncherello and Jon Baker, the lead characters in the hit tv series CHiPs. Jon was a by the book, blonde haired, country boy gone to the big city, but Ponch was the bad boy who wasn’t afraid to make Sergeant Getraer mad with his rule breakin’, crime stoppin’ techniques. There won’t be any “Seven Mary Three” radio calls from inside the cage and backup ain’t coming any time soon. The CHiPs bikes were ridden hard, crashed, and chased in many episodes. They almost always got their man (or woman in some episodes) at the end and the two coppers usually found themselves in short shorts nestled up with some hottie California chicks when the credits rolled.
