Chevrolet Has Released More Information On The Upcoming 2019 Silverado – 3.0L Inline-Six Duramax Diesel For Half-Tons!

We’ve seen the 2019 Silverado that Chevrolet is putting up against long-time rival Ford and the new Ram that’s just about to be unveiled, but it’s only now that we are learning the details of the new Chevy (and what we expect to follow on to it’s GMC Sierra twin). While we are still coming to terms with the body sculpting that the Silverado got in this makeover, some aspects of the change are welcomed. Chevrolet is proud that about 450 pounds has been shed from the truck through the use of different materials for different parts…aluminum for the doors, hood and tailgate while steel was kept for the fenders, roof and bed. The frame is 88 pounds lighter and carbon-composite second-stage springs save another twelve pounds.

Additionally, Chevrolet is proud of the new 3.0L Duramax inline-six diesel that will power the light-duty models, the interiors that are now offering three more inches of rear-seat legroom and their overall trim level layout, which breaks the spread of eight distinctive individual models into three sections, as Chevrolet lays out:

High Value (want the capabilities of a full-size truck at a good price):

  • Work Truck features “CHEVROLET” graphic across the grille and tailgate, blacked-out trim and 17-inch steel wheels for maximum durability. The interior features durable vinyl or cloth seats and 7-inch color touch screen.
  • Custom features a body-color styling theme, 20-inch painted aluminum wheels, LED signature taillamps and available integrated dual exhaust.
  • Custom Trailboss (new for 2019) adds off-road equipment to the Custom, including a 2-inch suspension lift and the Z71 Off Road Package with a locking rear differential, skid plates, Rancho shocks, 18-inch wheels and Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires.

High Volume (the typical current truck buyer: truck capability, car comfort):

  • LT features chrome accents on the bumpers, front grille and mirror caps, Chevrolet bowtie in the grille, LED reflector headlamps and signature daytime running lights. The interior features an 8-inch color touch screen and available leather seating surfaces
  • RST (new for 2019) brings a street-performance appearance to the LT, with body-color trim, full LED lighting (foglamps, headlamps and taillamps) and up to 22-inch wheels with all-season tires.
  • LT Trailboss (new for 2019) adds off-road equipment to the LT, including a 2-inch suspension lift and the Z71 Off Road Package, including locking rear differential, skid plates, Rancho shocks, 18-inch wheels and Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires.

High Feature (the all-out loaded examples):

  • LTZ features chrome accents on the bumpers, front grille, mirror caps, door handles and hockey-stick beltline as well as power folding and heated outside rearview mirrors. Leather interior trim is standard equipment.
  • High Country features an exclusive front grille design with two-tone chrome and bronze finish, body-color accents plus chrome assist steps from wheel to wheel. It also includes the power up/down tailgate as standard equipment.

We gotta say that in stripped-down form, a Custom TrailBoss sounds like a solid value and that the Work Truck does a proper job of ditching the gingerbread for simple functionality. Will it translate into sales when Ford and FCA are gearing down with new and updated trucks? Stay tuned…

U.G.L.Y. Somebody at GM got their inspiration from the old pipe themed screensaver, Ms. Pacman or a tadpole. Either that, or they’re Japanese.

For all the “new trucks” .Could they make the frontal area any bigger. Look at these things ,and they all are doing it. I guess its the “new style” .Ugly as a mud fence. Looks like they cut the grill out of a sheet of plywood. And only had a cup of sawdust left .However looks like they are coming to their sences a little late with the half ton diesels.I just don’t understand why they want to use such a small displacement. It just seems like you have to work a smaller power plant a lot harder to make the power we all want. And I am sure it will .But for how long. You pay 5 to 8K more for a diesel engine .You pay that for the fact that it will last 250 to 300k miles. If you take a smaller engine and have to boost it to 20 psi just to run 60 mph . .No way will it last 200k miles .That’s just my opinion

Having seen all the “improvements” and updates in design for all the truck manufacturers, I;m really glad I don’t need to try to replace my 2001 2500 4×4 Suburban with 8.1 gas V-8. It has 182000 miles, but I have to tried to keep it maintained well, and it does everything I need it to do. Yeah, it only gets 10-12 mpg, but I can buy a lot of gasoline for what a new one would cost, plus, you can’t even buy a 2500 series Sub anymore!

I will loan my grandpa’s old 72′ C10 to the GM design department so they can see what a good looking truck looks like. Maybe there’s an inside bet on who can build the ugliest truck. The Titan looks positively classy compared to this elephant man truck.

Butt fugly these trucks are. Add to that they\’re equipped with the crappy 6&8 speed tranny\’s they\’re having trouble with and not fixing. Oh yeah they will outsell Ford….NOT!

You know how some cars, you can’t stop turning around and looking at it as you walk away…. yeah, this isn’t one of them….
