Chevrolet Issues “Stop Sales” Orders For C7 Corvette

Chevrolet Issues “Stop Sales” Orders For C7 Corvette

This wasn’t what Chevrolet needed. GM put out two separate “stop sales” orders on C7 Corvettes to fix two issues that popped up. The first one is for an improperly-installed driver’s airbag. During a collision, the airbag might detach from the steering wheel. This  affects about 2,000 cars. The other is for an improperly-installed emergency brake cable. There are two cables on a C7, and one of the cables might not be hooked up. This affects about 800 cars.

While General Motors hasn’t used the word “recall” yet (mainly because the entirety of corporate management is still trying to drink away the memory of the last couple of years), it’s not out of the realm of possibility yet. The C7 is a great car and it’s obvious that GM is throwing everything it’s got at the car to make it work and sell, but these items aren’t faulty components but rather a worker who either doesn’t care or didn’t bother to ask the right questions. Here’s hoping the Bowling Green plant can weed this out before it becomes a bigger problem.

Wonderful. As a GM tech, I cry a little every time they announce a new recall. More BS, bad-paying work for us guys in the shop. I’ve also heard that there have been some early engine failures in the C7, including Car & Driver’s long-term test car expiring at like 6000 miles.
