Often times the best car stories are actually people stories that surround a car. In this case the car is an immaculately restored 1970 Challenger and the people are a group of friends who rallied around a sick buddy to make a dream come true when he was not strong enough to do it himself. This isn’t a story about charity as much as it is a story about friendship and the kindred spirit of hot rodders.
It is also a story of perseverance but in a different way than you may be thinking. How? Well the guy who owns this car had tried to buy it 30 years before and after a botched sale it sat at a guy’s house long enough that it was in pieces by the time the current owner got it but he made it all right with a 500ci stroker big block and a pistol grip handled four speed stick.
You don’t have to be a Mopar guy or girl to really love this story, you just have to be a man or woman who has a group of friends that you know would help you if you ever got into a spot like John Howard was in. This is s story that’ll make you smile and reaffirm your faith in hot rodding humanity.

I wish John well with his recovery and I am glad that he was able to fulfill his dream.
We are very good friends with John. It was incredible to follow this as it went on. He parked next to our Roadrunner for the car’s debut at the Mopar Nats. Such an incredible story, and a beautiful car too.
