Contents of Shuttered Delaware Chrysler Plant Up For Auction

Talk about conflicting emotions. On one hand we’re saddened by the fact that the Newark, Delaware, Chrysler plant is closed and will never produce another automobile. On the other hand we think that there will be loads of killer stuff up for auction on February 25th when the contents of the plant are sold.

We’re obviously not talking about the massive industrial presses and other stuff, but more along the lines of the tool room contents, the loads of little cart-like vehicles that were used to shuttle people and things around the place, lifts, lathes, vertical milling machines, and CNC equipment. This is a prime time place to score shop equipment for what may end up being pennies on the dollar.

The University of Delaware has purchased the 252-acre site and will transform it into a research center and academic facility. The final tally of items has not been settled but we’d say it won’t be any less than several hundred when all is said and done.

We are strongly considering attending this shindig to see if we can score a sweet deal on some tools.
