Cool Find: A Rare Mod Bod 1972 Chevy Truck

Cool Find: A Rare Mod Bod 1972 Chevy Truck

We like learning new stuff and before today we had no idea there was such a thing as a “mod bod” package offered on early 1970s Chevy trucks. Basically, the “mod bods” were graphics that could be applied to the bodies of truck as optional equipment. A dude on the 67-72 Chevy Trucks site bought one with intact graphics and a killer plaid interior that screams early 1970s.

We have no idea how many trucks came with this package, but we suspect it wasn’t very many. Trucks were pretty utilitarian vehicles back in that era, so it struck us as funny that Chevy would offer such wild graphics to customers. It just doesn’t seem to fit the market.

We dig the heck out of the truck and the owner is looking to sell it. If a unique and rare Chevy is someting that you are interested in, this may be the rig for you. We’re not sure if anyone is repopping the graphics, but we are 100% sure that we’ve never seen one of these trucks before. Gaudy? You bet. Unique? Absolutely!

Hit the links below to see a lot more about this truck and to see the sales ad.

Thanks to Todd for the tip!

Im gonna call bullshit on that one…. that graphic design looks like NOTHING that ever came from that era. In fact, it looks like something out of the 80’s JC Whitney catalog era.

No, Dick, this is a bonafide GM offering. My buddy in high school used to borrow his dad’s truck (nearly identical twin to this one) and pull my uncle’s boat to the lake for parties.

Sorry to pile on, but, you’re wrong, Dick. I, too, remember this from the era; I was about 13-14 at the time and remember the truck sitting on a dealers new product lot. Thought it was pretty cool, definitely unlike anything else being offered from the Detroit at that time.
