Cool Helmet Auction Coming Up at Amelia Island Concours

Cool Helmet Auction Coming Up at Amelia Island Concours

The Amelia Island Concours is a very high-falutin’ car show held every year at The Golf Club of Amelia Island at Summer Beach. As most car shows are, this one benefits charities and helps to raise money, in this case to aid the fight against Spina Bifida.

Lots of exotic and rare junk gets dragged out of private collections to be shown on the golf course and frankly, although we’re not upper crusty enough to get invited or even let in to a show like this, we can certainly appreciate fine iron when we see it (even if it is from several hundred yards away with binoculars).

One of the interesting fund raisers that happens each year is the auctioning of a helmet signed by all types of racing royalty. It would be a killer piece to make the centerpiece of your racing memorabilia collection, or in our case to wear on the ice or dirt as we thrash on the Javelin. We’d hope some of the signatures from guys like John Surtees, Brock Yates, and others will magically cause our skill level to rise.

If you’ve got your Sunday best ironed and a pile of money to spend, hit the show and make some bids!
