Cool New Product: Auburn Gear’s ECTED MAX Trick Selectable Locker

Off road guys have been beating the crap out of selectable lockers for many years now. With the ability to cruise around on an open differential while on road and then having the awesome traction of a locker off road with a flip of the switch, they seemed to be the perfect option. Leave it up to Auburn Gear to take the concept right on to the next level.

While previous offerings offered the “open” and “locked” settings, Auburn’s unit is a fully functional limited slip when deactivated. That means great street manners and the ability to handle some light duty off road stuff before the going gets tough and you activate the locker.

While this model is aimed right at the truck market seeing as it is intended for a Dana 44 axle commonly found in Jeeps and other four-wheel drives, it’ll be neat when the Ford 9-inch version, Dana 60 version and GM 12-bolt version hit the shelf. We can only assume that they are in the works at is makes sense and the technology seems like it would be easily transferred to other axles. Once that happens your hot rod can sport an limited slip for the street and a bad ass locker on the strip!
