Cool or Not: The Trans Am Depot 6T9 Goat Camaro Conversion

Cool or Not: The Trans Am Depot 6T9 Goat Camaro Conversion

Our “Cool or Not” series rages on today with this, the “6T9 Goat” from Trans Am Depot. The folks at Trans Am Depot have been making conversion kits for late model Camaros for several years now. A bunch of companies are making Firebird lookalike stuff for Camaros but this GTO conversion is a new one on us.

Obviously a great amount of time was spent in the design and engineering of this kit. We can tell you that the fit and finish on the new nose, tail, and other panels is factory appearing. That being said, there’s a lot more to this discussion than the fit and finish of the panels. People seem to be very polarized by these “transformer” cars.

What say you? Is this a unique and cool way to own something that few other people will have? Is it sacreligious to invoke the name of an iconic muscle car from a dead brand without so much as a Pontiac nut of bolt in the whole car? Would you drive it or run screaming if you saw it in person?

Tell us…is it cool or not?

I wish I had been born with more thumbs so I could give this car more than 2 thumbs down.

The only car I could think of that is more hideous that this was that ’04 GTO that some shop in WI tried to turn into a ’70 Chevelle.

Not so sure about putting the GTO and Judge badges on it though, trying to make it something that it’s clearly not. But, I think the car looks awesome, I’d drive it in a heartbeat. I give it a thumbs up.

Shouldn’t this be a Firebird/Trans Am? Maybe take a Malibu and change it into a “Pontiac”. Anyway, it’s just not my taste. Thumbs down.

Maybe if it wasnt a convetable and with out the badges and that pain and that rear end then it would be ok but thats a pretty long list.

make my butt look big? (yes)

But then, it’s not really that much more cartoonish than the factory-issue “Fat Elvis” Camaro . . . .

i’ve seen this car at a show before and i thought it was pretty cool, i still think its pretty cool. ill give it a thumbs up!

I have to go thumbs down… the front looks cartoonish but OK – barely – the rear just shows how fat and ugly new cars are. It reminds you of a chick that looked OK at school but is now a fat hideous pig, the kind of thing you’d gnaw your own arm off rather than have to wake her up…

    – Front end looks better than the awful Firebird and T/A stuff that unfortunately happened to the already-ugly Camaro

    – Issues with the rear of the car have been well-described here already

    – Even if it looked OK…. WHY would somebody do this? Dollar-w

Of course my opinion is bias, as this is my friend’s company. Like it or not, many folks are going nuts over the Goat. I was marketing “THIS” car in Panama City this weekend and was overwhelmed with enthusiasts of all types. We sold 3 of them in two days. Rajunz, there is no GTO, or Judge emblems (it just looks like it) and they have permission to use the Arrowhead emblem.
My opinion on the car: This weekend Linda Vaughn said she loved it . . . so there ya go !
    Not so opinionated DTB

Beak is overly pointed and kinda garish. Ass end is exactly the opposite – like a 4×8 with tail lights. Did the same guy design both ends – or did he get the front done and ran out of time for the rear?

    Not my deal for sure.

I’m with Dutch on this one. I mean, I was thinkin’ pretty much the same thing when I read his comment. G.M. didn’t build G.T.O.’s out of f-body’s, first-gen did they? At least try to find something that looks a little muscle-ly, if your gonna build a muscle car. That’s a no brainer. True, some Camaro/Firebird/TransAm combos have blurred the lines between pony and muscle, but the G.T.O. not only was the FIRST muscle car, it DEFINED the movement to come!

    @Dave the Bartender –

Looks like someone put Pamela Andersen’s tits on a fat chick. Car’s still butt ugly man.
