Chad and I are lucky enough to know lots of men and women in the hot rodding industry and high performance aftermarket. As many of those people are pals and readers, we get tips on stuff that they’ve found trolling eBay, Craigslist, the local classifieds, whatever. In most of those cases, like this one, we protect their identity to keep the boys in upper management off of their backs. The other cool thing is that they’re afflicted with the same sickness as the rest of us. Take this truck for example. If it were just a 1959 Ford cab-over it would be cool enough, but adding a spotlight with a range of 35 MF’ING MILES makes this baby nearly beyond compare.
The truck is likely powered by a Y-block engine and we think we can see signs of the huge and very weird Holley carbs that were used on these heavy trucks back then. But who’s really looking at the engine. The payoff with this truck is the huge by large GE WWII-era spotlight mounted on the back. The light measures five feet across, and is essentially a massive parabolic mirror reflecting a “carbon arc” with, get this.. 800 MILLION CANDLE POWER! As mentioned earlier, the light has a range of 28-35 miles.
It would be awesome to make a BS template and project the logo like the bat signal into the sky or simple blast the light directly at Prius owners and their cars in an effort to melt them or otherwise annoy the hell out of ’em.
We know we’re weird for wanting this, but remember folks we were told about it. There are others like us! First rule of weird stuff club, don’t talk about the weird stuff club.

All I can think of when I look at that truck is…man, some serious fun could be had with that. Some serious trouble could be gotten into as well.
Maybe I can get my boss to buy it to keep us warm out at the pumps?
