Forgive us for our love of large, incredibly slow, weird trucks. We can’t shake it, and when we saw this totally odd 1944 Autocar Army truck, we were in lust. We nearly passed out when we read that the truck was designed with the intention of running dual wheels front and back, and needed a few pulls off of an oxygen tank to remain conscious.
The owner of the truck has added a flatbed to the back and a previous owner added a hard top to the cab (which would have originally had a cloth top). Neither of these additions take away from the cool factor of the truck, which we think is off the charts.
This is a truck that looks so tough that brick walls would fall down before it had the chance to wipe them out. The top speed is probably limited to something slightly less than what is legal in a school zone, but that’s no matter when you can throw a logging chain around that school and pull it down the street.
Probably rides like crap, sucks to turn, may be tough to get parts for, but golly, we want it!
