Craigslist Find: 1969 Plymouth …trailer?

Craigslist Find: 1969 Plymouth …trailer?

Ever see the remains of a truck bed converted to a trailer? Not the rusty, well-used bed that’s serving it’s purpose long after the whole truck stopped functioning, but the clean pickup bed, with decent paint and no rot? What about the trailers meant to look like the second half of the vehicle towing it?

Well, if you have a green ’69 Plymouth and have been looking for something to tow behind it, have I got a deal for you: You can buy a trailer already made! Formed out of what looks like a clean Satellite, the cut was made just before the end of the front doors, leaving the B-pillars intact. This leaves a large, well upholstered space inside for storage or even camping, plus trunk storage. The suspension looks like stock Chrysler B-body leaf springs, and the electrical system runs the stock taillights instead of some cheap AutoZone bolt-ons. It even has some decent trim and dog-dish wheels and caps. The seller will also throw in a mixed can of matching paint to bring it all to one color.

The pictures show a very well-done conversion, and you’d definitely have the only one in town. But I don’t know if I’d take this to the Mopar Nationals to sell parts out of, like he suggests…Mopar guys might break out the pitchforks and torches with this one. They’re crazy like that.

What say you? Would you buy or cry? Visit the Craigslist ad here.

aaaaargh……stupid…..I know you guys aren’t into 4 doors but hell, ship it to Australia, we’d buy it.. I mean, its not even a sensible trailer! A station wagon, maybe, pickup, yeh, but a sedan? dude, sell the whole car to somebody with a few brains and just go buy a friggin trailer.

Hopefully it was made from a wreck. I would have liked to seen a window in the front so you can see through the trailer while towing.

That would be my guess too – if this guy had a Satellite where the front end was too squished up to save, I’d say making a trailer out of it wasn’t a bad call. I wouldn’t have sacrificed an intact one to do this, though.

Somewhere recently I saw where people are taking dead front wheel drive cars and hacking them at the firewall, then welding a trailer tongue on and wiring it it up.
One was a 4-door Chevette that had been converted inside with a bed.
Just proves that anything can be made into a trailer.

apparently minivans make great trailers if you hack the body away and only use the back axle.

    Some things are just WRONG

I don’t know about the Mopar guys wanting a piece of him – in general the guy that built this needs a bit of a tune up. (if you know what I mean)
