When Price Chenault sent us a tip that there was a 1977 Chevrolet K5 Blazer with the Chalet Camper on the back for sale in the Seattle area, he also include the following. “I know one of you has a old oddball RV fetish. Here is a 77 Blazer Chalet. Enjoy!” That would be me my friend, and you certainly are NOT helping. In fact, I grew up with a Suburban that was the exact same color combo. Not cool dude, not cool. Work me over on the RV Fetish AND tug at the old heart strings by bringing back the first Suburban I ever rode in. I see how this is. Thanks.
Anyway, back to the Blazer with the Chalet on the back. Apparently the Chalet is not firmly attached at this time, and so the Blazer must be towed. I find this funny because towing the Blazer doesn’t in itself get rid of the danger of the Chalet falling off the back while going down the road. I think some duct tape, ratchet straps, and bungee cords could fix that bad boy up.
According to the seller it’s got a fresh 350 in it, and a Turbo 400 backs it up. I’m in. The interior isn’t “mint”, but it’s not bad at all either. There are no photos of the inside of the Chalet, which is the thing I am most disappointed in. Of course that does allow my mind to wander and therefore envision shag carpet, avocado green appliances, and more. Ah the ’70s.
Here’s all the info and photos. Enjoy. Click the link at the bottom of the page to visit the original Craigslist ad.

Nahhhhh…. I mean … I get it and all …. but give me a late 70’s VW Westphalia MicroBus any day … a tank full of gas .. a CD player to bring things up to date … some Keith Jarret – CSN – Bill Frissel – Zappa etc in the holder … an open road … the wife by my side …. and I’s a happy guy … letting the ole Freak Flag fly high .. and Hardley T. Whipsnade rides again !!!!
Phi Beta Zappa ! Freak yer Greek baby ! 😉
That coulda been in a Mad Max movie and fit right in. It’s giving me unpure thoughts about my Bronco.
I’ve always wanted one of those, but his price is a bit ambitious.
Is that nylon rope holding the camper on…..?
Cool, but I can’t understand those things. If you are short enough to rest comfortably in the bunk, you prolly have difficulty seeing over the dash.
If ya can rest in the bunk ya ain’t old enough to drive.
Not worth $5,000 or OBO.
There’s one of these down the road. Don’t know if its for sale or not.
The one you have here is serial #1102, built in 10/76. It’s been for sale on Craigslist for around a year or more, the seller never changes his price.
