It is the day after Christmas, which means that the kids are going to be playing with their new stuff and lots of people are going to be out and about shopping and trying to “get deals” on stuff that was magically 30% more expensive just a couple of days ago. Despite all of that there is usually a little tinge of malaise on this day because the fun is over, a return to the office is looming and after New Year’s fun in less than a week, we head into the abyss of winter without much to look forward to. This 1962 Nova that we found on Craigslist is the perfect car to share with you on the day after Christmas. Why? Because it starts our at something cool looking and then just leaves you with a hollow empty sadness inside. It also makes you want to go back in time to the point before you actually saw it.
If there’s something that I personally hate more than Deloreans it is “shorty” cars. These machines, like this Nova come to exist when an enterprising hot rodder decides that he’s going to make a two door car out of something that was previously a four door. All proportions are thrown out the window, they never look right, and in the case of this Nova, the car would be fitting as a central vehicle in a Dr Seuss film. We can see it rolling through Whoville now.
The only upside here is that the seller is only looking for $950 and there’s at least that value in parts that could be used or sold. The super sad thing is that the aged appearance of the car doesn’t seem to point toward a lot of rot and rust. The steel looks dirty but largely in great shape. We just can’t get over the roofline and goofy look of the whole operation. It seems like some sort of awful attempt to get a Nova to look like a Mercedes 280SL.
Let there be no doubt, I am not a big fan of this car. For $950, though? Still not a fan of this car.

Is he asking to give me $950 to take it off his hands?
I think it would make a wild gasser!
That was my first thought; cut out the b-pillar, straight axle, and pie crusts out back
It would make a fun wheelie sleeper! I hope they reinforced the rockers when they cut that baby in half…..4cyl?…not
I guy that lived a block over when I was a kid made one just like this. had a 6 banger it was a fun wheelie car. wsnt good for much else.
Fan or not time to cut the tail out the thing and go all metrapalition with it.
where is this thing at?…it kinda looks interesting to ,e
That thing is just stupid. What a waste of a car!
I normally don’t like the 1st gen Nova’s, but I kinda like it.
Says it needs “Breaks” I think it had some already.
everytime I see a shortened car that some numbnut built…I die a little inside.
There are easier and quicker ways of turning a car into a parts car. Cutting a foot and a half out of the middle is not one of them.
Put a longer hood and front fenders on it it w ould be a mercadies widen ir it would be a pontiac flip it over and it woul be a buick. Did I mention i miss pontiac or am I justplain old.
