Is A Giant Piston, Which Could Make The Perfect Decorative Item, Worth $600?

Whenever I see a giant piston or rod or other engine part, I always think they would make a killer conversation piece, coffee or end table in my house or garage. But the truth is you usually only see them online or at someone else’s house, but almost never for sale at the swap meet or on Craigslist. Until today that is!

But it ain’t cheap.

There are three of these pistons for sale on our local Craigslist. The seller says they weigh 95 lbs each and came from a powerplant or something. These suckers are big, and would be cool as hell as the base of a kick ass coffee table, but we sure wouldn’t want to move it!

$600 seems like a lot to us, but with the rarity of items like this I guess we can’t gripe too much.

I have an ashtray and cigar humidor made from B-17 bomber pistons. My grandfather made them during his time with the 381st Heavy Bomber Group at Ridgewell, UK during WWII. They are anywhere near this big, but I think they are really cool.
