If you read the new-car mags or blogs, you’ll see a theme that’s been cropping up a lot lately: the death of the mid-sized sedan. For decades, mid-size four-doors were the way to go for a family. They were popular, priced right, and in the case of two of the most popular models (Honda Accord and Toyota Camry) they were sewing-machine reliable. They might have been as boring as watching the grass grow, but if you knew to get your oil changed on time and didn’t hit every possible curb and pothole, it stood to reason that your car would still be doing fine years down the road. Don’t believe me? Look to see how many Toyota Camry sedans there are out there that are at least fifteen years old or older. But here’s the kick: reliability is nice, and you can’t argue with the practicality of a four-door sedan for daily use. But does it have to be so damn dull? Nope. Meet the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth. Translated out of Ford of Europe-speak, it’s a four-door, hot-rodded version of what we saw in the States as the Merkur XR4Ti, but with a Cosworth-tuned 2.0L four-cylinder breathed on by a Garrett turbocharger and in the case of this particular model, the RS Cosworth 4×4, all four wheels receiving power. 204 horsepower was a factory figure, but Cosworths can be tuned and boosted by the best to crank out wicked figures. We don’t know any kind of story on this white example…even with using Google Translate to quickly understand Dutch, there isn’t much to learn except that this is a fully-optioned Cosworth, having power windows and door locks.
Being 2018, this Ford is now legal to bring to the States…older than 25 years and first registered in January means that you’ve just got to fill out the forms and make an appointment to cram the Cossie into a shipping container. Everybody and their mother seems to be shipping in Nissan Skylines lately…I actually got cut off by one in the Cadillac Limo yesterday in Bowling Green. If you’re going to import a car that previously had been forbidden fruit, may we suggest something that was built to see Autobahn use instead?

While I have R32 Skyline parts on my Riv, I’d rather have this thing than the whole car any day.
Call me weird but I’m more of a super sedan and GT coupe than I am a hot hatch or sports coupe type of person.
