You like 1977-90 GM B-bodies. So do we. You like them with some grunt under the hood that the factory was too scared to put in. So do we. You like them clean and presentable, comfortable without looking too much like Grandma Hazel’s church car. We’re right there with you. Every time we see one in good condition, we start daydreaming of the possibilities, and when we are surfing listings, we’re actively looking at cars that we’d love to immediately slap the words “project car” on to while whipping up our list of excuses for the purchase.
And you might want to do the same, because this 1979 Chevrolet Caprice looks to be that good. With these Rough Start finds, there’s usually a catch. It’s a nice car, but you’ll have to replace the carpets and undo the Gordian Knot of wiring underneath the dash where a sound system once lived. There are other unpleasant scenarios that might crop up, like the rod knock from hell or the rot hole that was conveniently not photographed. But here…all we see is too much space between the rolling stock and the wheel wells. Honestly, for a Craigslist car, what more do you need? You have a 350 here that you’d probably swap out with something with even more grunt. You have full interior, complete with one of the better custom consoles we’ve seen in quite some time, and you have Cragar S/S wheels that are perfectly useable. Get some better tires and drop the whole car down at least two inches and go cruise this beast! $3,800 takes it home and that leaves you with plenty of coin to play with after the purchase!
