Snow-Roaming In Style: This 1964 Ford Falcon Club Wagon Mounted On A Snowcat Is Awesome!

It’s never a good sign when you check the weather reports to see what you’re in for and the weatherman simply shrugs. That’s kind of what’s going on in my neck of the woods at the moment. When I stepped outside to work on the cars, it was fifty degrees and spitting a little bit of rain…not perfect, but for the first day of February, not bad either. Within an hour, the temperature had sank like a brick, I had scrambled for my coat and gloves, and within another half-hour BangShift Mid-West was being snowed on, again. Joy. It’s winter, I know, but that doesn’t mean that I like wintry weather. To be fair, we are ill-prepared for it. We’ve got one non-running car, a pony car with no guts, a potent sedan that has proven to be sketchy in the snow, and a sport truck with all-wheel drive. (Remind me, again, why I sold a perfectly good Dodge Ramcharger?)

Having the right vehicle makes all the difference in the world in wintery conditions, and you would be very, very hard-pressed to find a better one than this 1964 Ford Falcon Club Wagon. Actually, to be honest, it’s a mashup between the Ford van and a 1974 Snowcat, hence the tracks, and it’s done just as we like. The van body is in beautiful shape and the 302/C6 automatic powertrain is intact. The Snowcat’s drive system is just fine, with new wheels and sprockets attached and everything looking nice and tidy. Try to get this sucker stuck, we dare you.

Live in snow country and want the best possible vehicle to have? Here you go. You’re welcome!

A Thiokol? Yeah, with a 302 and a driver with two throttle settings, you can bury it on a steep switchback. If yer gonna do it, do it in style. This has the style side covered. All that\’s missing is money, space, and a reason. Hasn\’t stopped me before, tho.
