We found this rompin’ stompin’ Pontiac 455 for sale on the Illinois Craigslist. We’re drooling on the computer screen as the seller is claiming a laundry list of killer components inside the block, and the iron heads have been worked by Indy Cylinder Head to flow more than 280 cfm @ 0.600 lift. The block and heads are o-ringed and there’s even stroker goodness happening here.
The seller never says what the exact displacement of the engine but he does list the bore and stroke, so some quick math led us to 478ci. The motor is old school in a lot of ways with a filled block and of course the iron heads, but we think it could be a real ass kicker in a bracket beast or a pretty cool “sleeper” motor in a heavy-duty street racer. The Dominator may be a bit of a giveaway in that scenario, but you can see where we’re going.
“Off brand” motors will always be cool in our book, especially those that are sporting 12.5:1 compression, solid roller cams with 320 degrees of duration and almost .700 lift, o-ringed heads, and a Victor intake manifold.
OOGA BOOGA indeed!
