Craigslist Pick of the Week: 1975 Zagato Zele (aka The weirdest car ever)

First off, if you have ever heard of or actually seen a 1975 Zagato Zele, you’re eons ahead of us. We were all set to scan Las Vegas Craigslist entries and pan some douche trying to sell his awful Lamborghini Countach. Instead we found an ad for this thing and could not pass up the chance to share it. It makes a Smart car look like a dump truck. Tiny does not begin to explain this bread box on wheels. We’ve seen golf carts with a longer wheelbase.

The seller is a car collector of sorts and appears to favor the off beat as you’ll note that there is a DeLorean in the background of one photo in the ad.

The Zagato Zele was never directly sold in the US. This one was imported by a woman who drove one in Italy and liked it. She had it shipped over and went though the customs process to legalize the vehicle for use on our roads. It lived in Oregon for many years, according to the seller.

He’s claiming that it needs some minor work and a new set of batteries to actually function, but from the looks of the photos, it appears to be mostly intact. We’d never in a thousand years actually own this car, but man, it would be hilarious to take to the drag strip at least once.

Leno may be interested in this car, someone pass this along to him would ya?
