Craigslist Survivor; 1974 Two-Door Chevy Vega Wagon – Think Of The Possibilities!

Craigslist Survivor; 1974 Two-Door Chevy Vega Wagon – Think Of The Possibilities!

My first car, after totaling Dad’s VW Westphalia Camper Bus, was a two-door wagon – a ’56 Chevy 210 and all through high school that Competition Orange pumpkin with a cheap, Tijuana installed, black interior was my pride and joy.

A succession of ’55 and ’56 Chevy Sedan Delivery’s and finally a ’64 Chevelle two-door wagon, driven for thirteen years, finished off that love affair.

So spotting a more modern two-door ’74 Vega GT Hatchback Wagon grabbed my attention again, and for sale in nearby Orange County, California, and for a mere $4,300 bucks!

There aren’t a lot of details in this Craigslist Find, claiming to have rung-up only 80,000 miles, sporting an original GT model four-cylinder, 85 horsepower engine and factory four-speed. The seller claims this Vega has fresh Jet Black paint and it looks like a pretty nice black, bucket seat interior.

Especially for California buyers, this is a “Smog Exempt” vehicle, so squeezing a GM 2.2 L Ecotec four cylinder crate engine would be a cool way to boost your quarter mile times, it’d fly!

Take a look, you wont see many of these Vega GT Wagons in this clean condition that are “Adult Owned” with Pink Slip title in hand.

  1. Don

Built a 1973 Vega GT wagon back around 1978. 327, Saginaw 4spd from the Vega, Monza posi rear. Fun, fast car. Used a Don Hardy kit.

Another good call Geordie. Some dummy will get their hands on it and guess what.

Come to think of it, I could go for a Buick 3.8 Supercharger under the hood

Had a ’75 Vega GT wagon in ’82 . It was maroon with the factory white side
stripes. Powered it with a “of the era” 305, stock except a 4 BBL, & THM350.
Went really well for what it was. Early on a Sunday morning, hit the highway,
going to visit relatives. Myself, wife & two young daughters. Noticed a brand
new black SAAB turbo coming down the on ramp, merging behind us.
The driver and his blond ladyfriend looked cool in their leather jackets and
sunglasses. As he attempted to overtake us, I just paced him, until we got
to about 90. Told the younger daughter to “wave to the nice people”, and
floored it. Didn’t see them again, until I got off at my exit. What a fun car…
