A while back, we told you about our experience with a mobile smog check station. BangShift Chad was stopped and the truck he was driving got checked out on the side of the road. That was in So-Cal. Now it seems that the coppers up in Sacramento are getting into the spot smog checking business. Read the story here.

We’re not skiiers, but we can spot a slippery slope when we see one. Although at this point the program is designed to check up on the smog stations, not so much the owners of the cars, and no fines can be given, we still think this is creepy. This program becomes a money generator for the thoroughly screwed government of California at the flick of a politician’s pen.

We’re all for clean air, but we also have this fascination and strong love for personal freedom. This program is surely the beginning for something that will truly suck someday.
