Cue The Hate Mail: The Orange Supra From “The Fast And The Furious” Is Going To Be Auctioned Off By Mecum

Yep, that Supra. The ten-second, turbocharged Ferrari killer. The neon orange, wing-equipped targa that Brian O’Connor hands off to Dominic Toretto as some kind of symbolic gesture of honor…or something like that. Bomex body kit, APR wing, Dazz wheels on Yokohama tires, and all, this 1993 Toyota Supra is the car in the final race scene, the one where Dom’s Charger ramps perfectly off of a semi truck into a corkscrew flip in the air. And sorry, but it’s not turbocharged…and those two big-ass nitrous bottles out back aren’t hooked to jack squat. What it does have perfectly suits it’s role as a stunt car for a movie: beefed up suspension, reinforced chassis and body structure, a roll cage, competition seats, a JAZ fuel cell, and of course, sweet graphics. Built by Eddie Paul at The Shark Shop in El Segundo, California, the Supra was one of 58 prepared for the role and has documentation to back it up. The 220hp 3.0L inline-6 and the five-speed manual (yes, five) will move the car around enough for whatever you want to do with the Supra: drive it, show it, shove it out of the back of a C-17 without a parachute…whatever.

I’d give a hundred bucks for it and the same in petrol to torch it to the ground. Ugly piece of crap. A basic stock Supra’s OK but this turd is devalued to the floorboards with the crappy graphics and other trash. Add its connection to those godawful movies and its worth four fifths of ferkall

nah, didn’t read it at all, actually. I based my whole response on looking at the photo. Sorry Luke, u a F&F fanboy?

They likely trashed around 57 of the other cars they prepped for the film. I can only imagine how many chargers have been destroyed throughout the franchise.

Too many. I can’t watch them for that one reason, they continually trash rare muscle cars. I don’ t care what excuse is given, I don’t want to see it.

I’m not sure I understand how you feel about Supras – perhaps if it came wrapped with Jessica Barton?

Like it or not, the cars from these movies have become iconic. The future owner of this car will attract quite a lot of crowds at the shows he parks it at. Just like the Deloreans from Back to the Future, the batmobiles of the ’90’s Batman movie, and other later ones.

If you don’t like these movies, then you are not in the right demographic for them. Which are teenage boys who play video games with imaginary cars. The F&F franchise was not made for guys who watched Bullitt 1000 times and actually race real cars. Time to move on to something else to bitch about.

Just hit 31 & watched F&F when it came out in 01.
Now have an LS in a ’57 chevy half ton.
      Just sayin’.

The first one was sort of like a Plan Nine From Outer Space for car guys. The botched so many technical details it made great unintentional comedy.

Horse hockey, I work on cars for a living, build them for fun (And daily drive what many tell me is “not a street car anymore”). And I LOVE these movies, especially the first one. That movie came out when I was a kid and they only strengthened my love of cars, and completely changed the way I looked at import cars forever. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve watched Two Lane Blacktop, American Graffiti, Bullitt AND The Fast and the Furious because they’re all GREAT movies.

I actually bought a 93.5 twin turbo supra after the second movie came out. I had a vanity plate on it BLKHOLE, not because it was painted black but because it consume all my money, my time, and pretty much my entire life. I sold it long ago and bought a STi, and then a EVO, but I still miss that Supra.
