Details of the New Ford 6.2L V8 Emerge; F150 Raptor Sounds Like Big Fun

The new 6.2L Boss V8 motor from Ford is sounding more and more like a pretty stout piece. Details have not exactly been easy to come by, but thanks to a recently published story about the SVT Raptor F150 truck, some hard data has emerged about the new Boss.

The truck will launch with the tried and true 5.4 liter 3-valve engine, but models produced in 2010 will have the new mill, which sounds superior in just about every way. It’s a SOHC motor based on an iron block, aluminum heads have splayed valves and just two of those per cylinder. Variable cam timing is part of the package along with a larger bore, shorter stroke design than the current 5.4 liter motors. The story claims that peak hp is made at 5,500 RPM.

We’d love to get our mitts on one of those 2010’s and see what it’s made of at the strip, and in the woods!
