We’re always amazed when our readers point us toward yet another awesome website that features cool old photos and information about drag racing history. We may live in the age of YouTube, but there was no shortage of people snapping photos back in the day.
We were told to check out Norbsplace.com which is the site of one Norbert E. Locke, a Chicago area drag racer who saved photos and stuff galore from his days of running his dragster and romping on hot rods at strips across the country.
The photos concentrate on places like Oswego Dragway, Union Grove Dragway, US 30 Dragway, Indy, and others. Seeing pictures of crewman holding dragsters on the starting line to prevent them from rolling through the beams, guys launching cars in short sleeve shirts, and diversity of design and execution in the equipment really turns our crank.
Hit the link below and kill some serious time at Norb’s Place. Best we can tell, Norb is the man!
We have to thank BangShift.com contributor Greg Rourke for the tip on this one!
