Unlike the awful Oldsmobile we showed you yesterday, this 1970 Chevelle doesn’t have a ton of crazy and false claims behind it, instead it has a 455ci Olds engine behind it…and in front of it. We’ll explain. A hot rodder in New Jersey saw a 1970 Chevelle as the perfect platform to use for creating a twin engined muscle car to terrorize the streets with. In order to achieve this seemingly impossible task, he used a pair of Oldsmobile 455 engines and Th425 transmissions as would have been found in a Toronado in the late 1960s and into the 1970s. The ride height of the car is altered in a noticeable way as the front end seems to sit up high, but the big 455 in the rear seems to be tucked in the stock body as well as could be hoped for.
The seller claims that this very car was a 1992 Popular Hot Rodding center spread and he’s just tired of messing with it. It needs some minor stuff like a battery charge and fresh gas to be fired up, but the seller says that it is a working car and the buyer could be cruising it very quickly after purchase. The thing has to absolutely haul the mail. It also must have some bizarre handling characteristics at full throttle. We wouldn’t even know where to begin trying to predict torque steer or direction when the pedal was mashed. There would be a lot of stabbin’ and steerin’ going on! The sound must be pretty boss as well.
We wouldn’t buy it because (to us) it seems like something that would be more fun to look at in a buddy’s shop than our own, but for something of this nature it appears to be pretty well constructed. It is a freak, but a freak we dig!

I do hope that it handles better than the Hurst Hairy Oldsmobile or the Terrifying Toronado however.
I remember that from the magazine! It inspired lot’s of daydreaming about building my own twin engined monster. I like it!
Itll be cool if they build it took look like a vintage drag car or somethin if they leave it as is it would just be an ugly waste of detroit steel
