Craigslist Find: A Cool 1970s Chevy Van Go Kart That Was Actually A GM Promotional Item!

Craigslist Find: A Cool 1970s Chevy Van Go Kart That Was Actually A GM Promotional Item!

As we all know, car dealers and companies go to some creative lengths to get people into their showrooms to buy cars. From wacky ads, promotions, and deals that are literally too good to be true, dealers have earned some of their…errr… less than stellar reputations. On the other side of that coin, there are the genuinely neat things that they’ve done to drum up foot traffic. This van qualifies as one of those things. According to the seller, this Chevy van go kart was one of several built and given to dealers as promotional items to help sell Chevy vans at some point in the 1970s.

This thing appears to be in 100% perfect condition. While it certainly won’t be fast with the little 3hp engine providing the power, we’d rock the hell out of it as a drag strip pit cruiser, neighborhood annoyance generator, and SEMA show floor prowler. The cynic in us thinks that the vast majority of these go karts that went to dealers ended up in the hands of the store owners family or were thrown in to make some big deals happen back in the day. To find one like this that is apparently flawless has to be rare as hell. We never knew they existed before seeing this posted on the BangShift forum section!
