For many people today is a holiday, but not here in the halls of BangShift. We’re always working hard to keep you abreast of the most important news in the automotive universe. Take this insane creation for example. It is a 1987 GMC S15 truck that has been painted red, given a light bar, a couple of wooden ladders on top of the bed sides, and oh yeah, TWO 350 CHEVY ENGINES! The whole thing sits on a custom built chassis and according to the ad, the engines feed their power to a Saginaw (?!) four speed and what looks to us like a 10-bolt rear in the back. You’ll want to depress the throttle as though there is a land mine under it with those two pieces receiving the grunt of both engines.
Truth be told, the truck looks to be pretty well done. We can’t say that we “get” the whole firetruck theme, but whatever, the damned truck has two honkin’ engines up front. Understanding the visual impact of two motors swingin’ in the breeze, there’s a part of us that would love to see a wildly stretched GMC S15 nose on this baby to cover it all up, even is it were just the fenders, with the grille and stuff, sans hood.
Both engines are simple little small blocks with Holley 650s on top of them, HEI ignition systems, COMP Big Mutha Thumper cams, and what look to be iron heads. They’ll run forever and as single pieces are about as exciting as vanilla ice cream, but when they start dancing as a tandem, well, we’re not in banana split country.
The trans and rear end would have to get replaced because if we had our mitts on this truck we’d be sidestepping the clutch and power shifting it until it wouldn’t cooperate any longer, and with those bits in there, that would not be a very long time.
What do you think? Is this twin engine 1987 GMC S15 cool or just too weird for your taste?

Am I seeing things or does the 3rd picture show a “pull start” handle???
Is it me or was the box truck in the front end view strategically placed?
Looks like they tried to blend an old Roadster with an updated hotrod, that belonged to a Retired Fireman. Swing and a Miss. 3 strikes in one project. Cudo’s for the Twin set-up though.
