Ebay Find: A 1971 Solid Axle Vega With BangShift History, Celebrity Status, And Dougan’s Horsepower

Ebay Find: A 1971 Solid Axle Vega With BangShift History, Celebrity Status, And Dougan’s Horsepower

If you don’t recognize this little Vega Wagon from our March Meet and California Hot Rod Reunion coverage, then you haven’t been hanging around here very long. The little “Passin Gas” Vega Gasser Wagon has always been one of our favorites because if its wheels up antics and the fact that it’s a 4-speed car! Yep, three pedals, and gear rowing action galore is what it’s all about here. The cool thing is you can own this 11 second terror now. It’s up for auction on Ebay Motors, and with a fresh Dougan’s built small block, you almost can’t go wrong.

The 360 cubic inch small block features Mahle forged pistons, forged rods, forged crank, Trick Flow heads, and speed parts from Holley, Comp, and MSD along with a full complement of AutoMeter gauges in the dash. It’s a smorgasbord of goodness and we totally want to drive this thing. The ad doesn’t say how much power the little 360 makes, but with 13 to 1 compression we bet it’s pretty good. The car runs 11.50’s in the quarter and that’s not beating it up.

The car has a full chassis, with a full cage, and seems like a really fun piece. Here are a couple photos to check out. Make sure you click on the link at the bottom of the page to visit the Ebay listing and start bidding. If you buy it, we want to make a pass or three. You owe us for letting you know if was for sale.

can’t believe he is selling it !!! , This Vega has always been at any Socal drag racing event and the wheelstands were awesome even with the tiny 302sbc he was running

Thanks for trying to help out with the sale “bangshift” – Times must really be tough… Not one person came out to “look” the car over. Everyone wants a 20k build at 5k. At12k the little Vega Gasser was a screaming deal with a quality 7k rebuild and proof of it. So I will just keep The one & only Vegasser and race 2, 3 times a year, The only reason I was offering her for sale was my “home track” Fontana has closed and it’s tough to do Bakersfield, Las Vegas etc more than a couple times a year… This IS a very fun hobby yet the costs to do long round trips limit my racing budget. Fontana spoiled me with 2 day race weekends 1hr away every month or more. See ya all in Bakersfield! and test n tune wheels up at Barona in Lakeside, Ca.
