A Bitchin 1933 Ford Five Window Coupe – Nailhead Power And Other Cool Details

A Bitchin 1933 Ford Five Window Coupe – Nailhead Power And Other Cool Details

Since we are rapidly closing in on Christmas, each day this week we are going to run a item about something we really want the fat guy in the red PJs to leave at our house. Today’s pick is a totally bitchin’ 1933 Ford five window coupe. The car has a Buick Nailhead, switch pitch transmission, wire wheels with knobby little tires and what we think is the perfect hot rod rake!

This is not a 100% perfect, never driven car. The eBay ad has a couple of photos showing a crack in the paint here and there, but that’s all the better for us. We’d want to cruise the hell out of this car and if there are paint belmishes, that takes all the “fear” out of putting the first ding in it.

The perfect stance is achieved by the use of a couple tried and true hot rodding techniques. The body is channeled down over the frame a couple of inches, the roof had three inches whacked out of it, and up front a drop axle that looks to dip and inch or more.

The motor is a 401ci Nailhead with a Comp MuthaThumper cam and “domes” so we’re guessing it has some compression. Obviously this is not some insane 600hp motor, but it probably makes low end torque llike a tug boat, so the car would be fun to drive, and those skinny tires could be vicitmized at will by your right foot.

The car has been bid just over $30,000 currently…who knows where it will end up. Hopefully Santa is ready to snipe this little rod for us when the auction closes tonight. You listening Claus? No cookies at the bottom of the chimney if you botch this up!

Thanks to Malc for the tip!

Love the nailhead, hate the grille. Every curve and jam has a flow to it that makes that Deuce grille out of place.

What.s not to love with this one. I personally like every detail. I personally like way the hood slopes intro the grill shell. Once again I have to find that winning lottery ticket– where did I put the doggone thing?

Yeah I hate it when someone actually does something different to a hotrod. Should have put a tractor grille and a rubber rat on it and yall would have creamed your pants.
