eBay Find: A Hummer H2 That Makes Normally Obnoxious Hummer H2s Look Like Hybrids

eBay Find: A Hummer H2 That Makes Normally Obnoxious Hummer H2s Look Like Hybrids

I’ve always thought that people who bought Hummer H2s during their height of their popularity and then during their plummet from said height were probably suffering from some sort of mental illness. The trucks were not all that capable off road, they weighed 6,600lbs, got horrifying gas mileage, and were slow to boot. Maybe I was just missing something. They probably had comfortable seats. A man in Georgia certainly thought they were missing something. He thought that that needed 54-inch tires, a massive tubular sub-structure, Rockwell axles, and monster truck sized coil over shocks. He didn’t feel that it needed any more horsepower though or an entry handle. The door panels are cracked from pulling on them as a grip to climb in and out of the truck.

I love giant trucks for the most part, but I guess I cannot wrap my head around this one and with bidding only at $5,100 it seems most everyone else can’t either. From the roof to the factory frame, it is a stock H2. From there on down it is a massive jungle gym of tubular substructure, four link bars front and back, huge shocks, and it all ends with those big Rockwell toploader axles and huge 54-inch tires.

I guess I am weirded out by this whole thing because the center of gravity must be equivalent to the Sears tower. Any type of side slope or crawling and you’ll be turning turtle in no time. I see this thing as a massive paper tiger. It looks bad ass and makes the right noises on the open road, but turn it loose in a mud bog, hill climb, or decent trail ride and there will be YouTube videos flying around by the time they drag the remains of the truck out of the woods.

If you do buy it, please wear a helmet when you decide to wheel the truck…you’ll probably need it.
