eBay Find: A Turbine Powered 1984 Honda Magna Motorcycle – Runs And Drives…If You Dare!

eBay Find: A Turbine Powered 1984 Honda Magna Motorcycle – Runs And Drives…If You Dare!

We don’t know much about motorcycles, but we do know that this 1984 Honda Magna is way freaking cooler with a Boeing T50 turbine engine providing the power than it was with the twin or four banger in it that came from the factory. The bike looks to be very well constructed and according to the seller,  it will run more than 145mph with the throttle cranked open, if you had the nards to do so. The turbine has been converted to be a pure thrust turbojet, so it is the thrust that pushes this bike along, not the turbine spinning a driveshaft.

The downsides are the fact that the 4.5 gallon fuel tank will allow about 15-minutes of run time, it has to be started using a start kart, so a clicking it off at the coffee shop would not be an option, and the headlights and turn signals no longer work. We think that figuring out a way to make some burner pops out of the “exhaust” pipes would handle that pretty well. As for the headlight, that’d be the least of our worries.

Is it street legal? It seems to be in West Virginia, but then again, that may not be saying much.

Would you ride it?

    “Would I ride it?” Yes.

Would I try 145 mph? No. Not on an ’80’s Honda Magna. An interesting choice of platform by the way. It was probably used because it happened to be lying around. Maybe not the best reason.

Anyway, I really like the concept.

I don’t like the 5 digit price tag. It seems a bit steep, but I am certainly no expert. It will be interesting to see if it sells.
