Studebaker trucks don’t get the due that they deserve. The trucks were well styled, powered by strong, reliable engines, and were built as tough as any other truck line in the country. From half ton trucks all the way through heavy trucks, they had a vehicle to meet the needs of contractors, farmers, trucking company owners, and sportsmen all the same. This rare 1955 3/4-ton truck is a prime example of all those things. Look at the fenders on the front end and straddling the bed. Those are fantastic shapes, especially the rear fenders. The wheels and paint scheme on this one are virtual perfection as well.
When we first saw photos of the truck we thought it was a dually before we took a closer look. Despite it not being a dually, we weren’t disappointed. The rake and track width seem to give the effect of tricking you into thinking that the truck is bigger than it really is. The eight foot bed can carry lots of cargo with the 3/4 ton rating. The interior is flawless in this truck as well. The real stunner is the factory paint scheme, though. The two tone job is separated by the existing body line that travels the length of the truck. We’d happily drive the wheels off of this truck. It’s little 259ci V8 would be working hard but we’d keep the speeds on the low side to enjoy the trip.
