This 1969 Boss 429 Mustang drag car is one of the neatest Mustangs we have laid eyes on in some time. Bought originally in New York and then sent directly to Tasca Ford in Rhode Island for tuning and upgrades like a roll bar (and we’re assuming rear end gears, traction bars, etc), this was a dedicated drag machine that only racked up 2200 miles on the odometer.
As you’d expect, bidding is off to a flying start with the first bid coming in at over $175,000 and the reserve has not been clipped yet. According to the seller the car races mostly on the east coast and had “moderate success”. The seller also claims that the car was featured in a “drag racing magazine” where it was documented to be a 10.50 second car in the quarter mile which was damned fast (and still is!) for the early 1970s! The car is equipped with M&H Racemaster slicks. We’re not sure of those are the ones the car actually raced on back in the day or if they are repopped.
We think this car is beyond bad ass. The plain jane Wimbleton white paint, no decals or graphics to speak of, the Tasca connection, and the fact that it is in factory fresh condition all add up to make this car a truly one of a kind beast in an already exclusive group!
Thanks to Paul for the tip!
