We’ve been hung up on cool cab over engine trucks lately. Most of them seem to be converted into low bed hauler trucks, but this bad ass 1948 Ford COE was turned into a pickup. It’s brilliant and totally unique.
Admittedly we weren’t totally sold on this truck at first glance. After seeing so many long wheelbase haulers, seeing one in short wheelbase trim was a bit of a shock to our gearhead brain. It only took a few minutes of gawking for us to jump on board with the idea behind this truck.
What you are actually looking at is a a ’48 cab on a 1980 Chevy 1-ton chassis. with a modified 2001 Ford dually bed mounted behind it. The engine is a 400ci small block and it is backed with a Turbo 400 transmission. It’s got all the modern brakes and comforts you’d expect from a custom truck like this.
While you can’t park your hot rod on the back of it, you could certainly pull your trailer, hit the local mulch pile, or show off at cruises. Hell, the Power Tour is coming. This big boy would be the belle of the ball!
