eBay Find: Neat 1964 Buick Wildcat

eBay Find: Neat 1964 Buick Wildcat

We’ve got kind of a weird fascination with Buick Wildcats that began when we were kids. There was a guy with a beautiful ’65 who lived by our local ice cream stand for many years. It was just a great looking car and once we found out it was packing 401ci of Nailhead coolness, we lusted after it. Like most of those youthful stories, it ended sadly when one day we drove by and the car was gone, never to be seen again. This week’s eBay pick is a ’64 Wildcat and it would fill that needy spot in our gearhead soul nicely, thank you.

We know that these cars weren’t absolute rocketships, but with good low end grunt from the Nailhead and 325 hp on the books, it’ll be plenty sprightly enough to be fun and we’re betting that it could shred tires from a dig like no one’s business.

We especially love the interior with the thin console, front bucket seats, and bitchin’ dashboard. Much of the Wildcat package was not performance related but more along the lines of brightwork, interior upgrades, and luxury type stuff. About 22,000 were produced with this roof in 1964 so they’re not growing on trees but they’re not Deusenbergs either.

It’s a “gentleman’s” muscle car, and even though we don’t qualify for that title we still want it!
