eBay Picks of the Week: Hemi Edition!

eBay Picks of the Week: Hemi Edition!

This week has been a good one on eBay, and it made the choice for our Pick of the Week a tough one. Everything from ex-Pro Stockers, sand-drag Jeeps, straight-axle Novas, and Pro Stock intakes got my attention and had me wishing for a sudden influx of cash, but it was the amazing number of Hemis that really got me hot and bothered.

First on the list is Lee Smith’s ‘66 Plymouth Belvedere Whackee Wagon Super Stocker, a legit historic racer that was the companion car to the Crazee ‘Cuda with the same multicolor paint scheme. As if my lust for wagons wasn’t enough, this one has a Hemi in it. The fact that it’s the wagon version of Steve Atwell’s daily driver Hemi Belvedere, brings back memories of Hot Rod Drag Weeks past, and the ’70-’71 paint scheme is mint, the Keystones rock, and it’s got a rollbar. What else could you want in a wagon? Check it out here.

‘68 Hemi Barracudas and Darts are considered by many to be the biggest baddest hombres on the block. NHRA’s Super Stock A/Hemi class has become a playground for the rich and fast, and here is your choice to join the ranks. As with most SS/AH cars, this one is show worthy, though it’s not really class legal as it currently motivated by a 1,000hp, 605ci Hemi and is backed by a 727 Torque Flite. The listing includes tons of pics, including several wheels-up action shots. It’s currently just north of $50k, and I’m guessing it takes another $50k on top of that to take it home. Can I get a loan? See the ad here.

This ‘64 Plymouth Fury has to be one of the prettiest around. Normally I’m not one for colored wheels, but on this black beauty the red wheels look great, especially when they are hanging 6” in the air. Its 9.30 at 142mph came during its only on track test, and the owner’s claims of a rotisserie restoration and show quality sure seem right by the pictures. Black with red interior is a cool combo for sure, but the 1,000hp, 605ci Hemi, 727, and Dana 60 will surely put the biggest smile on your face. The oversized factory-shaped hood scoop is cool, too. It’s got almost a week left on it, and the bids start at $38,001. Start the bidding!

This ‘68 Hemi Barracuda is listed as “the finest Super Stock Car available today” according to the seller. With over $250,000 spent on construction, the Buy It Now price of  $85,000 is practically a steal. The fact that it’s a roller shouldn’t be a concern. My fifth and final eBay Pick of the Week will take care of that for you! Check out this fine roller here.

Here’s a complete Pro Stock Hemi built by Glidden and Nickens for Schumacher Racing. Seriously, it’s a Pro Stock Hemi. Do I need to say anything else? Okay, well for $28,000 it’s yours. Which means that you can have the ’68 Barracuda above along with this Hemi for $113,000. Throw in a Jerico and you’re done, and you’d have a unique ride because everyone would expect an old-school 426-based mill. This argument will of course need some work in order to convince your wife.
