Forgive us for being heavy on the stolen car stuff today, but these stories are just too good. Our latest tale of automotive chicanery involves an English car salesmen and two thieves who used the novel approach of taking a car for a test drive, tricking the sales guy to get out, and then speeding off into oblivion. Classy.
The thieves made off with an Audi S3 which is a little hot hatch from the German car maker. Working as a team, a middle aged man and a younger woman (posing as the man’s daughter) met the 33 year old salesman at a predetermined location and took him out for a test drive.
The car was listed for private sale on Auto Trader according to the story we found on YorkshireEveningPost.com. It seems that the salesman and his dad run a Porsche repair shop, but also deal in Audis on the side. After driving around for a little while the evil doers pulled to the side of the road and the man wanted to examine the engine. As the sales guy hopped out, the thief jumped back into the front seat and sped off, leaving poor Chris Guest to run after the car. Obviously, he didn’t catch them.
Seeing as the young woman was riding in the back seat, Guest is lucky that he wasn’t attacked or otherwise injured by the pair. It sucks that the car was stolen, but at least he wasn’t hurt.
The story is pretty wild and proves that we don’t have the market on jerks cornered here in the USA. They are everywhere.
